On Thursday 12th October this year the Victorian State Government, through the Regional Development Victoria Department, has given Port Fairy's Moyneyana Festival a huge boost by allocating $10,000 for a new inclusion in this year's program of events, which will be called – C.B.D. ALIVE!
Committee member, Chairperson Mr. Reg Harry OAM, Secretary Mrs. Jackie Herrmann and Sponsorship Committee member Mr. Des Savory were present at the Glenelg Shire Offices, Portland for the announcement made by the Minister for State and Regional Development Mr. John Brumby.
In accepting the grant allocation Mr. Harry, on behalf of the Committee, thanked the Minister Mr. Brumby, the Victorian Government and made special mention of the wonderful assistance given by Miss Emma Vagg, Rural Community Development Officer, Barwon Southwest Region, Mrs. Gayle O'Keeffe, Moyne Shire Council, Business and Tourism Officer, Moyne Shire Council Officers and Festival Secretary Jackie Herrmann, for preparing the successful application. He also stated to his knowledge that this was the first occasion the State Government had financially supported the festival since its commencement 58 years ago. In that time the Moyneyana Festival had raised millions of dollars for the hospital in Port Fairy and for many other non-profit and community groups.
C.B.D. ALIVE!
Comprises a series of FREE children's activities to be staged on the Village Green in the heart of Port Fairy's Café and Retail precinct. Activities include roving street performers, live music, and children's entertainment including Ticklish Allsorts, Canya Dantz and Wild Action Reptile Show.

Over the years there has been a concerted effort by the Festival Committee to bring Festival patrons into the main retail area and present potential customers to Port Fairy Traders, who have for so long given generous financial support to the five-week Moyneyana Festival Summer program, which runs from Christmas Eve to the Australia Day Weekend.
