Now is the time to prepare your entry for the Port Fairy Moyneyana New Year's Eve Procession. The theme this year will be "100 Years of Surf Lifesaving" conjuring up visions of surfing, waves, beach parties, swimming, our lovely beaches. Put on your thinking caps and get into preparing your entry. Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:
Best Surf Lifesaving Theme - $150. Best Beach Theme (Adult and Junior prizes) – $100 each
Best Rescue Theme - $100 Best Sporting Club Entry - $100
Best Car Entry - $100 Best Band in Procession - $100
Best Historical Theme - $100 Best Nautical Theme - $100
Best Industry Award - $100 Best Youth Entry (1 st & 2 nd Prizes) –1st $100, 2nd $50
Most Original Entry - $100 Best Family Entry - $100
Best Decorated Bicycle - $100 Best Musical Float - $100
Best Humorous Entry - $100 Plus prizes for special mentions by the judges
And of course there will be the major prizes of $500 for the "Champion Moyneyana Float" and a $250 prize for the winner of the Inglis Barby Memorial Award.
This year there will be no early registration incentives but there is a total prize pool of $3000, due to the generosity of our sponsors. Several categories have been given increased prize money – e.g. special mentions. The judges often find it is difficult to choose between two entries for winner of a particular category and like to reward both entries. Entry forms will be available at the Port Fairy Visitor Information Centre in early December. Just give them a ring if you want them to send one to you.
