The Suitcase Circus

You never know what might happen on Port Fairy's Village Green. Recently, local students delighted Saturday shoppers and visitors by parading down Bank Street before demonstrating their repertoire of newly learned circus skills.

The performers are in training, under the guidance of 'Suitcase Circus' workshop master, Reg Bolton, for the the Port Fairy Folk Festival.

The 'Folky', held the weekend of 10th to 13th March, is to have a circus theme.

Students from both Port Fairy primary schools are participating and, as you can see from the photos, enjoying the opportunity to seriously 'clown around'.

Reg Bolton travelled from Adelaide to spend a week working with the group, and he hopes to return next March for further workshops. The Folk Festival attracts around forty thousand visitors to Port Fairy, so these talented young people can expect huge crowds when they perform next year.
